I deserve a man that will be nice always. that will be respectful. that will care unconditionally. that will always go the extra step to make sure he and I are both happy. that will be passionate, and generous. that will make me laugh when my day was bad. that will be career mindful, and frugal. that will smell nice. that will be intellectual, and deep. that will be good with children. that will love animals, and plants like family. that will be positive about the decisions of mankind. that will look at the world as a substance, not a nuisance. most of all, i deserve a good man, because I am a kind woman. end of story. why is that so hard for people to understand?
I don’t understand how people can see if there is tension between me and another person. I can feel it, but have never been able to see it happen between two people. It means:

Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.
